Hi everyone,
We woke up and fortunately had access to the nice buffet breakfast again so we headed down to that to fill our bellies for the day. We had a slower start to the morning than we would have liked and it came back to bite us later.

Today was the Labor Day public holiday in Malaysia so a lot of the tourist hot spots were packed with people. We took a Grab out to Batu Caves. It’s pretty much the most popular must do tourist activity in KL. It’s a set of 270 colourful steps that lead to a Hindu temple. There are lots of monkeys around too. The climb up the steps definitely burnt the calves. There was a Hindu celebration of some kind happening so the stairs and temple were super busy. A lot of people were climbing the stairs barefoot.

The cave up the top which houses the temple is a pretty cool site. There were a bunch of monkeys, including a few babies up there too but they were rowdy and fighting each other. People were actually feeding the monkeys, like sticking their hands out to them. No thanks.

The biggest issue with not heading there early arose when we were leaving. The traffic was so bad that a ride that was meant to be about 25 minutes took about 1 and a half hours. Our Grab driver wanted us all in the back so we were squashed up there the whole time and they only had aircon blowing on them. So uncomfortable. The issue was it was a two lane road and there was about 4 lanes of traffic trying to get into two lanes. There were busses letting their passengers off in the middle of the four lane traffic right as there was a bit of a break in the traffic to move. It was madness.

We finally got back to the hotel and needed to recover from that hectic excursion so we ordered lunch in from Jollibee which is a Filipino chicken fast food chain. It was pretty average but filled us up for a while.

After more rest we headed up to floor 51 of the hotel where the main pool is. The draw here is that there is a magnificent view of the city skyline. Aimee and Julian hung out in the shade while Ronnie had a swim in the lovely infinity pool.

Around dinner time we headed to Bukit Bintang to look around at the shops and get some dinner. We mainly stayed around Pavilion where the big Rain Rave party was pumping. They were spraying people with water guns and the beats were loud. Eventually the rain actually started and it was really coming down.

We ended up at Uncle Roger’s Fui-Yo restaurant for dinner. If you don’t know who Uncle Roger is he was a big YouTuber from a few years back who critiqued other chef’s egg fried rice. Well, Uncle Roger’s fried rice was actually pretty nice. Julian enjoyed it too and for a gimic restaurant it was actually very cheap.

We went to Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory for dessert because we loved it so much in Singapore. Here the flavour was still nice but the cheesecake was from the freezer so it was really hard to bite through. It was still enjoyable though.

We eventually headed home to chill for the night. Once Julian was asleep Ronnie headed to the floor 51 pool deck to see the skyline at night. It was filled with women getting their Instagram pics with full professional camera set ups but he managed to squeeze in for some pretty funny selfies.
