Hi everyone,
We woke up in the mountains and walked into the shopping centre to get some breakfast at a fast food chain called Marry Brown.

We walked back to our hotel, packed up and walked down to the little view/garden behind our hotel. It was a weird little garden, but a decent way to kill time while we waited for our ride back to KL.

it was the last of the very reasonable weather and we soaked it in a bit before we head back to the big smoke/furnace of Kuala Lumpur. We caught a grab back there which was about an hour and 10 minutes of driving with a very strange Grab driver that had about 20 bells dangling from his rear vision mirror. It was a long, windy and annoying drive.
We got to our eventual destination which was Restoran Wong Mei Kee. We had heard about this place months ago. It only opens for three hours per day and you have to get there about half an hour early to line up which we did. We were still 7th in line and by the time we had ordered, there were about 50 people in line.

It is a Michelin bib gourmand recognised restaurant and their main dish is Siew Yok rice. Or roast crispy pork on top of rice. Let me tell you, this feed was fuckin unreal. Absolutely delicious. The meat was so incredibly tender, the crackling was salty and crunchy (but not too salty!) and the rice was aromatic and flavourful. One of the best things we’ve eaten on this trip hands down. Was well worth the wait.

Afterwards, we went on a pretty treacherous walk over to a massive shopping centre called Berjaya Times Square. It is hard to describe the individual shopping centres, because there are so many of them, but they all feel very different. This one felt a lot more market-ish with every store having someone stand out the front trying to get passersby to enter. On the 5th level they had this mad track where kids can drive cars around a lap of the shopping centre, which of course we did and Julian absolutely loved it and cried when we had to stop.

The main reason we came to this shopping centre though is because they have a fuckin massive roller coaster right in the middle of the shopping centre. What the hell! Anyway, Ronnie went on it and said it was intense. Only in KL would you see something like this.

We went on another treacherous walk. The reason we say these walks are treacherous is because we have a pram and KL is not a walkable city. The footpaths often will just randomly stop, or have holes where there shouldn’t be holes or have steps or steep drop offs. Also the traffic is insane. It is near impossible to cross the road and don’t get us started on the motorbikes, they just do what they want! If it fits, they will go there. Footpath exists? Motorbike will ride on it. Red light? No problem for a motorbike, straight through. Pedestrian crossing? Fuck that, motorbike first. One way road? Nope, motorbike rules. We think you get the point.

We walked through Bukit Bintang and Pavilion which has an event on all this weekend called the Rain Rave. More on that tomorrow.
We finally got to check into our hotel. We had been carrying around a few full day bags this whole time and it was hot af which was quite tiresome so we were happy to be back. We had a few hours of relaxation and swam in the gorgeous pool in our room.

We then decided that we’d go for a walk down to Suria KLCC and have an easy dinner that we don’t have to think about. TGI Fridays it was. Whenever a new customer comes in all of the staff shout “Happy Fridays!” Which is great with a Malaysian accent.

We got back to the hotel, Julian fell asleep and we spent the next hour or so having a night swim and looking out of the cityscape which was just lovely.
