Hi everyone,
It’s a new day in Malaysia and we were at Genting Highlands where it is certainly less hot than the rest of Malaysia due to being up in the mountains. Top of 29, which is still damn hot for us and you see the Malaysians here rolling around in jackets. Insane!

We walked into the shopping centre to look for some breakfast which is literally connected to our hotel. We ended up back at Madam Kwan’s and had a Malaysian breakfast. We got some more Kaya toast and some roti canai. A solid breakfast indeed.

Today is a theme park day. The main event for the Genting Highlands is the Genting SkyWorld. It is an outdoor theme park that has numerous licences franchises including, Ice age, Rio, Planet of the Apes and Independence Day.

We started off by going on the Samba Gliders which is a roller coaster based on Rio. You fly over the whole park. It’s a smooth and fun roller coaster, but you only have the lap band, it feels like you should probably have something to hold onto, but you don’t, which makes it more scary, despite being perfectly safe. This was Ronnie’s favourite ride in the park.

The ice age rides were next, there was a massive log ride roller coaster that went through a mountain with Sid and the gang, it also went up very high so you could see out into the actual mountains which was pretty majestic. Then we did the ice age dark ride which was a bit meh, but fun.

At these theme parks, most of the time we have to go on them one at a time because Julian either can’t go on the rides because he is too small or he doesn’t want to, which was very much the case today. It takes us quite a bit more time as we both have to line up separately.

Luckily for us, every ride was about a 5 minute wait, at most 10, sometimes even just walked right on. We don’t know how this park makes any money, there was barely anyone there. It didn’t stop them from building the most elaborate queues in existence though, they go for ages! And luckily are quite well themed. We couldn’t get pictures of any of them though because they strict about taking nothing on rides, can’t even wear glasses and they metal detector you.

We also had lunch in the ice age section, they had a massive cave that had a cafe in it. Itwas nothing special, just a few sandwiches.

We went on nearly every ride throughout the day except for the giant drop type ride, we don’t like that style of ride. Aimee’s favourite ride was called Alpha fighter pilots that is a rotating arm type ride that sends you in a full 360 spin.

Overall the park was pretty average we think. It was well themed, you can tell they sunk a lot of money into it, but it’s also quite hollow. It feels weird, it’s hard to describe. It gives the appearance of this great big grand park, but it is not that. The rides are pretty good too, we definitely enjoyed the day. It is a fun day out, but it doesn’t have a place amongst the echelon of top tier theme parks around the world.

After the park we went back into the indoor theme park so that Julian could go on the little train ride again and picked up some dinner at pepper lunch. Pepper lunch is a franchise, there is one in Sydney. They serve meat and rice on a sizzling plate that cooks in front of you, it’s a bit of a gimmick but it is actually delicious and we enjoyed it.
