Singapore Day 11 – Final Day

Hi everyone,

We woke up and got ready for our final full day in Singapore which included hitting up the hotel breakfast.

A little while after breakfast we took the MRT to Maxwell to check out Chinatown again because our visit last time was a bit short.

We started at the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. Again, it was interesting to see people making their offerings and prayers. It was a bit odd to see screens to order your offerings like the ones you order your food from at McDonald’s.

I’m not sure that’s how abs are supposed to look

We then went to Chinatown Complex for a quick snack. This market is huge! There is a fresh food market on the bottom which made it a little smelly, a lot of trinket stores and over 100 food shops. We just got a curry puff and a drink as it was pretty overwhelming.

Curry puff was good

We wandered out to the streets where they have a lot more stalls. It was pretty hot in the sun so we got some ice creams that were in the shape of Singaporean icons.

He got in on the Merlion eating too, despite being unhappy about the photo

Finally in Chinatown we went to a bakery for some supposedly good egg tarts that ended up being a little disappointing.

They weren’t good

From Chinatown we made our way to Orchard because there was dessert there we wanted to try and the trip there was very much worth it. We got a cow cow sundae from Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory which had a Camembert and salt biscuit, a slice of Japanese cheesecake (the best kind!) and cheese and Hokkaido milk flavoured ice cream. It just really worked and was so delicious.

Gloriously cheesy

After a final wander around Orchard St we went back to the hotel so Julian could play at the playground while Aimee packed us up for the next part of our holiday.

At dinner time we did our last walk to Great World. We decided on Korean food for dinner and we were quite hungry but ended up ordering too much. We had beef bulgogi rice, tonkatsu omurice and tteokbokki. The omurice was the best dish.

We stopped in at a chocolate shop called Awfully Chocolate for some yummy chocolate truffles. We got upsold on a hot chocolate which was kind of crazy to drink on our hot walk home but it was smooth and delicious so we’re glad we got it.

1 for 1, still not sure what that means – delicious anyway

We then settled in for the night so we can be fresh for our travel day tomorrow.
