Queensland road trip 2024 – Byron bay to Sunshine Coast – Day 5

Hi everyone.

We started the day off with another stroll to our new favourite coffee shop for a few delicious oat milk lattes by the pool.

The pool was closed
Hippy seating at the coffee shop
Tiny homes are so trendy right now

After our morning stroll and coffee we drove into Byron Bay for an açai. I mean, did you even really go to Byron Bay if you didn’t get an açai!?

Actually amazingly good

Feeling Zen as fuck after our oat milk lattes and acai we drive up to the Byron Bay lighthouse to catch some incredible views and Aimee spotted a whale.

Look at the camera, boy!
There is a whale out there, we promise
If it’s climbable, he’s gonna climb it

We left Byron bay which was sad because we really enjoyed our time here. It was a 3.5 hour drive up to the Sunshine Coast which was painful as traffic was bad and Julian didn’t sleep. Our first stop in the Sunshine Coast was at Amaze World in Tanawha. They had a massive hedge maze, timber maze, puzzles all over the place, a playground, mini golf and all sorts. Julian really, really loved the timber maze, he was so fast we almost lost him a few times.

Rope puzzle
Aimee failed this puzzle
That’s not how you do that one.
BUZZZZ
The next Tiger Woods? No, no, definitely not

After Amaze world we finally got Julian a nap in the car. Queensland doesn’t have daylight savings time so we gained an hour today which messed with his nap and our schedule. We had some spare time after that so we went and checked out the big pineapple. We just went to the pineapple and the cafe/playground though as we were not interested in their little zoo (we are doing a much better one tomorrow). It was a nice little stop though.

Should’ve brought a banana for reference
King of playgrounds
Pineapple Sundae, yum!

After this we drove down to our accommodation and checked in and walked across the road to Alexandra Headland beach. It is beautiful there. Ronnie had a swim in the waves while Aimee and Julian played in the sand and splashed their feet in the water. There was some cool activities going on at this beach that if we lived at the beach we’d love to get involved in.

Loves the sand, hates the water
What do you mean I can’t eat sand?
Sea kayak racing practice looked so fun
Vietnamese for dinner, simple but delicious
Daddy needs his shoes while he is swimming right? I’ll throw them in the water so he can get them.

Main event tomorrow.

Ronnie, Aimee & Julian
