Hi everyone.
We started our day in Port Macquarie by going down to town beach and grabbing a coffee from the Salty Crew Kiosk which is a very popular spot right on the beach. We did a long walk on the beach with our coffees.

At the end of the beach there was a really cool little park that Julian played at for a little bit, but it was designed for older children and it was also wet because it rained last night.

Right next to the park was an iconic Port Macquarie landmark – The Breakwall. It is basically a wall that breaks up the tide so that boats can come in, but it is surrounded by large rocks that people have painted and turned into works of art. We walked along it.

After this beautiful morning we drove about 20 minutes down the road to a little town called Wauchope which has an attraction called Timbertown. Timbertown depicts a colonial era saw miners village. It really encapsulates the vibe, even though it is a bit run down, but that adds to the charm.

They had a mini train ride, a horse and cart ride, a tractor ride and a steam train, and peddle boats. We went on all of them and Julian was scared of all of them but warmed up to it.

This place was pretty cool for half a day. They also had camels, more alpacas, kangaroos and donkeys just wandering around.
We drove back to the main town for a quick bite from a kebab place called Little Turkey. A nice snack pack and gozleme. Again, would recommend.

After Julian’s much needed nap back at the hotel we went back out to Lake Cathie (pronounced cat-eye). This is an inlet that is connected to the ocean resulting in a lovely little steady saltwater lake that is perfect for swimming. Aimee and Julian spent a lot of time playing in the sand while Ronnie swam around and over to the little island. Great fun. Last time Julian went to the beach he was 8 months old and hated it. His tune has certainly changed, a bit cold for him to get wet though.

It wouldn’t be a trip outside if we didn’t go to a playground too right? We didn’t realise until we became parents that a lot of beaches actually have playgrounds built right at them – so convenient!

Also Mister whippy rolled on by while we were at the playground, couldn’t say no to a slushie

Then we went home in the evening and sat on our balcony and ate Chinese for dinner which was really delicious from a place called 27 palace.

Tomorrow we leave Port Macquarie for another decent drive to Byron Bay!
