Hi everyone
We decided to have an easy morning and not get our usual breakfast. We saved it for the local markets that they have here. The Remarkables market was so nice. It was a bit overcast, which really added to the ambience of the day.

It was a really beautiful place for a market. It was not busy, they had a live musician playing soft songs and it was a real vibe. The market really pushes sustainability. When you walk in you can take a mug off the hook and then order your coffee at one or the stores and then they have staff that wash it up for the next people. It was really nice.

We ended up buying some Taiwanese chicken from a litttle Taiwanese stand which was absolutely delicious. Nice and juicy with a crispy outside.

We also grabbed a few piroshkis and belyashis from a little Russian market stall. The piroshkis were very potato and bready and a bit same-same. The belyashis were delicious though, crisp batter with juicy meaty deliciousness inside. Damn good. With a homemade tartare sauce that paired very well with it.

It was a great way to spend the morning and a really great example of how markets should work.
Right next door to the markets was an arcade. We decided to go in there and see what was going on they have a full indoor go-karting track in there so given that we have driven every other type of vehicle in this trip we thought we’d give these a go too.

The electric go karts had some zip to them. They were super fast and it was super fun. Ronnie ended up with the fastest lap by about 1 second. It was pretty exhilarating and fun.
After this we headed back into town and by this time it was absolutely pissing down rain. We needed to work out what we could do in the rain. We went to a cosy restaurant that looks like it’s straight out of lord of the rings. The cow. We went here last time and we found the aesthetic beautiful but the food extremely average. Things unfortunately have not changed. A Hawaiian pizza, spaghetti bolognaise and a big garlic bread. Sounds delicious, but not really. Spaghetti bolognaise is probably the worst thing you can order at a restaurant in our opinion. We made that mistake again…ugh. Doughy, not nice pizza. Garlic bread was good though.

Whilst it was pissing down, we decided to use the opportunity to do an inside activity. Down on the wharf they have an activity called time tripper that we decided to do. you go down the stairs to an underwater viewing window into the lake and we were shocked to see a heaps of massive trout and eel. As well as ducks diving down getting food and algae. It was awesome. They are not captive either which was even cooler. Ronnie thought they were fake when we first got in there, but they’re real.

The guide tells you about the fish and then screens come down and it plays a video all about the history of the lake. It was really great. We enjoyed this little experience.

We grabbed a coffee and headed back to the hotel to chill for a while and wait the rain out which eventually stopped. Tonight was our date night. Nan and Julian got some dinner and went to bed early.
We went down to thrill zone which was the same place that we did the escape room and played 18 holes of indoor mini golf. It was pretty unique. Some of the holes were challenges like cornhole, connect 4 or skee-ball and the rest were customisable mini-golf holes and it all glowed in the dark.

Aimee was in the lead most of the way but Ronnie ended up winning on the game of connect-4 and the final hole which was a big foosball golf table.

After our mini golf challenge we decided to go on a little bit of a bar crawl. We first went to little mez which is a dive bar that is underneath Margo’s Mexican restaurant margarita and a honey pina which had some tequila honey, pineapples lime and salt and pepper They were both beautiful drinks. We also had some chicken bites with them that went down a treat.

Now it is important to understand at this point that we are not drinkers. We have the occasional alcoholic beverage but our tolerance is very low. We were certainly feeling the effects after these delicious but strong drinks.

After that decided to head to a bit more of an up class bar called The Bunker. It was cold out so we sat in front of a fireplace and ordered another cocktail each. Aimee had a “too many kisses” which had vodka, berries, passion fruit, kiwi, lime and apple. She found it to be delicious. Ronnie had a Matcha Monkey which was a very unique drink that had baileys, whisky, brandy, honey and matcha. It was really absolutely delicious and an amazing cocktail.

Well on our way and we decided to get a fergburger as one of our bucket list items was to get drunk and eat a fergburger. We also got some chips from the kebab shop. We got a classic fergburger and went down to the pier to eat it. When we got down to the pier we had heard about and seen the floating bar but have never given it a go. It is literally a boat that is permanently moored on the wharf that has been turned into a bar. You can take your own food on there only if you order a drink. We felt like we probably shouldn’t get too drunk because we have an early morning tomorrow.

So of course we ordered a cocktail each and ate our drunken fergburger. It was so good. We got a pina colada and a passion fruit mojito. It was excellent. We stumbled home later to get up early for the morning. A great night.

Much love,
Ronnie, Aimee & Julian.
