Hello everybody.
Today was another massive way, but not in the way that yesterday was. Yesterday was stressful and rushed. We didn’t get much of a break because we were doing things we didn’t want to do. Today was busy because we were doing stuff that we do did want to do.
We all had a great sleep last night and it was cold this morning, a flat one degree Celsius. After we got ready, we strolled down to Ferg Baker. If you’ve ever been to Queenstown, you know what Ferg is. If you haven’t it is certainly the most famous thing in Queenstown, a QT institution one might say. It started with the burgers (more on that later) and has expanded to buy the three storefronts next-door and created Ferg bar, Ferg Baker and Mrs. Ferg’s Gelato. This morning for breakfast it was Ferg Bakery. Ronnie & Nan got pies, Aimee got a sausage roll and Julian got a croissant.

The pies were big, flaky and the right amount of gooey, the croissant was buttery and flaky and the sausage roll was pretty standard. We also got a coffee which was average. We then drove to Frankton to get much-needed supplies at Kmart and then we went down to Queenstown Garden to do one of the things that we did last time that was at the top of our adventures. We played a round of disc golf. We can’t emphasize how fun and beautiful this activity is. The location is amongst the gardens and in amongst the giant trees on the side of a lake surrounded by mountains. It is just stunning and the game itself is super fun! It is so cheap and is an amazing way to get your steps in and spend a few hours outdoors.

While we did this Nan and Julian walked around the gardens enjoying nature.

We worked up a bit of an appetite after our round of disc golf so we decided to go down to the waterfront for some fish and chips. We went to Erik’s Fish & Chips and ordereed the family pack.

The fish and chips were actually wonderful. The batter was so thin and tasty, and the chips were perfect. It was just the right treat at just the right time. Very generous portions too. Even though it was less than 10 degrees Ronnie decided to do a quick plunge into Lake Wakatipu to the dismay of the onlookers wearing jackets and beanies.

On the way back to the car we stopped at Gong Cha for some bubble tea. Ronnie got Lychee with coconut jelly and Aimee got mango with mango pearls. We always love a good bubble tea!

We then got back into the car and drove all the way to the Shotover river for our next activity. We had originally planned this for tomorrow, but we had a bit of a tight schedule, so we got it moved to today. Ronnie did this last time we were in Queenstown, but Aimee was pregnant at the time, and they don’t allow you to do it while you are pregnant. It was the Shotover jet boating experience!

The Shotover jetboat has two V8 engines and go about 100km/h on 10cm depth of water. It’s really an impressive engineering feat. Feeling the wind on your face, the speed on the water and the stunning views made this such a fun experience. The boat gets incredibly close to the debris and the cliffs, and it feels like you’re going to crash, but the drivers have excellent skill. The boat also does spins which was super fun.

Back to the city centre and we parked out car at the Airbnb as parking and traffic are very heavy in this little resort town. We walked down to the harbour and Ronnie & Nan decided to do the Fear Factory Haunted House

In the haunted house you go through a pitch-black maze following little red lights. All throughout the maze there are actors and props with scary music and loud sounds, screaming, lights and jump scares. It is a very creepy experience. The scariest part was where there was a room with chains from floor to ceiling and you could see a hooded figure following you screaming at your through the bars. It was pretty full on!
After that thrilling experience, it was time for dinner. As mentioned earlier we were hitting up Fergburger tonight. A Queenstown institution. Unfortunately for Ronnie (who waited in line) it was about a 45-minute wait. The line was halfway up the street, but you can’t not do it! Ronnie ordered the Little Lamby which was high country lamb, mint jelly, lettuce, tomato, red onion and aioli & tomato relish. Aimee had the Sweet Bambi which was Wild Fiordland Deer, brie cheese, boysenberry & caramelized onion chutney, lettuce, tomato red onion and aioli.

Both burgers were absolutely delicious. Last time in Queenstown we got the more traditional burgers as we wanted to try it in its purest form but this time, we were a bit adventurous which paid off. The lamb was juicy, and the mint jelly added such a nice flavour. The brie cheese was a little bit much on the deer burger, but the meat and chutney were great. Highly recommend anyone who comes to Queenstown to get Fergburger. An absolute must.
It was time to stroll back home which we did and settled in for the night. However, we had to quickly stop by Cookie time for some fresh cookies! We got some salted caramel, chocolate chip and chocolate fudge and caramel. They were so delicious! Nothing like a fresh hot cookie straight out of the oven.

A quick playthrough of one of the episodes from our newest Unlock game before bed and it was very relaxing.
Much love,
Ronnie, Aimee & Julian.
